When approaching Maths, I first help my students understand the concepts
I have multiple students I teach through Skype or Google Meet. I am very experienced with using an Apple pencil on an iPad and regularly encourage students to join me on a virtual whiteboard if they have sufficient equipment. I love drawing graphs and labelling diagrams, this helps my students visualise concepts and ideas much easier.
I am very skilled at helping students understand algebra, calculus, geometry, graphs and statistics. I regularly work with students who need to sit GCSE/A-Level exams, so this means I often have to check and work with the syllabus.
I create a spreadsheet for each of my students, this spreadsheet will contain all the syllabus terms and a traffic light scale of red, yellow and green. With red being weak and green being strong, I will check in with my students every few weeks through each term asking them if their strengths and weaknesses have changed or not. I can share this with the parents so that there is a detailed record of their child's progress, this also ensures that the child's objectives are very clear.
I provide personalised homework after every lesson tailored to the student's specific needs, as I believe practice is essential to the retention and application of content. I provide detailed notes on all sciences to ensure a foundation for my students. I am also always available via WhatsApp for quick questions and I'm happy to send over a short video to recap any concepts I covered in class.
After a concept is covered in class, I assign homework tailored to identifying their weaknesses during that class. I ensure students' understanding by explaining concepts
I like to find out what my student's learning style is before my first class with them, this helps me understand how they want to be taught and therefore I can adapt my teaching towards their needs. I regularly ask questions in class regarding the speed I'm covering content and their understanding of it, I aim to make my student's feel comfortable with asking questions whenever.
No not as much, however I am willing to be patient, learn and adapt when working with them.
