I grew up in America, just graduated from the University of Massachusetts Commonwealth Honors College with a Batchelor's Degree in Chinese American Mental Health, and am currently tutoring English in Hong Kong. I have several years of experience tutoring English - in reading, writing, and college essay writing. I have tutored and taught across all ages, most notably high school students, in which I have helped many of them get into their top university choices. Therefore, I am particularly helpful for students applying to American universities, in all its facets: the application itself, the essay-writing, and the interview. In addition, I have several years of theatre and singing experience, making my teaching more dynamic with stronger expressive skills. The topic of my undergraduate degree also helps me guide students towards prioritizing both academic achievement and emotional well-being/self-care. I value student engagement; one component of this consists of helping students actively correct their mistakes, so that they won't repeat them in the future, when they are on their own. For instance, if there is a grammatical error in their writing, rather than immediately pointing it out, I will ask the student to read the sentence out-loud, in which they will often catch the error without my help.
