Background: I moved to New Zealand when I was just 6 years old and only returned back to Hong Kong 3 years ago to finish high school at an international school in Hong Kong. Now, I’m a year 1 Politics Philosophy and Economics (MA) student at the University of Edinburgh. The moment I graduated high school I launched myself into part-time tutoring and within a few months I was tutoring 30 individual students all over Hong Kong during summer mostly through parent referring me to their friends. These students of different ages and backgrounds from toddlers as young as 2 years old to adult in their 30s. Aim: My objective for most of my students is to enhance intrinsic motivation by helping them develop an interest in their subjects. When I first came back to Hong Kong from New Zealand I was ridiculously behind my peers with Cs and Ds all over my report and it was a horrible school, few make it into university. I knew I needed to do something about it and so without any pressure from parent or tutoring I did my own studying. The results were phenomenal. I ranked Second in Form the following year and First in Form the year after. I hope that I can use my own personal experience to guide your kids to strive and excel academically.
